About Me

Scott Kent, owner of Hungry Worms

Hi, I'm Scott Kent. I am a Husband, a Father of 2 young kiddos, and the owner of Hungry Worms. Thank you for visiting my website!

I began my journey in 2014 when I had been interested in regenerative agriculture. I was particulary interested in "closed loop systems" where, in an agricultural context, nutrients are consistently recycled through a system and (mostly) don't ever get lost. That year I got a small worm bin as a christmas present - my favorite present!

I mostly grew worms as a hobby or passion project, until in 2019 I began collecting food waste from several restaurants in my hometown. I collected around 5000 pounds of waste and converted it into worm castings that first season. It was during this time that I pitched my business idea at Utah State University and won the special guest's award, and even had an article in the newspaper written about the worms. I did business with greenhouses, home gardeners, hemp growers, and even competitive pumpkin growers!

My business grew slowly and steadily, but really started to take off in 2021 when I partnered with the Urban Worm Company to fulfill their pure red wiggler shipments. I went through a handful of business names (One World Ecology, then Utah BioAgriculture, then Mighty Worms) but in 2025 I created Hungry Worms, and the website, to build my own online presence.

Each year it grows bigger and better. Even just since early 2025 I have taken on supplying for several additional recognizable worm farms, and composting related non profits. More equipment and worm bins are brought in, filled with worms, and just recently I've brought on some employees to help with the workload.

This is my full time job (which is scary to say that my income relies on earthworms mating) and I strive to be among the best in the industry.

Reach out with any questions! Most weekdays between 9-4 MST I am feeding worms and available for an unscheduled phone call. Thank you!
